Sponsorship

Kempsey Macleay RSL Club and The Bowlo Sponsorship

We are here to serve the community.

It is at the core of our club and it’s functions – everything we do is for our members. We have the privilege of living and working in this region – and with this comes a responsibility to give back and help where we can.

Whether this is in the form of Sponsorship for local sporting groups through The Bowlo, donating to charities or getting involved with local schools, surf lifesaving clubs and community groups.

We always strive to go above and beyond – and get involved everywhere we can.

Charities & Community Groups

Kempsey Macleay RSL Club is involved in several local charities.

We work closely with Samaritans and the Kempsey Women’s Refuge to support their work to help families in our community. It is an amazing organisation that provides crisis accommodation and outreach to women and their children.

We take part in a Giving Tree each year, where members can donate toys to provide to those in need. All proceeds from our fundraising efforts go directly back into the local community.

We also support local schools and preschools, surf lifesaving clubs, organisations and other local events.

Our History

Kempsey Macleay RSL Club opened in 1948, under the Returned and Services League values of connecting veterans and providing a space to re-connect.

What began as a place to support veterans by connecting them to their local community through camaraderie and mateship, has grown into a pillar of the community, for all ages to enjoy.

The club started in 1948 and now has over 9,000 members.

Kempsey Macleay RSL Club has evolved into a focal point for families, sports teams, seniors and travellers passing through. It has grown as our community has grown and we continue to set this as our vision for the future – to be what our community needs.

A large feature to this has been the addition of the Kids Club, which has meant children can become part of our Club – while their parents can enjoy our fabulous dining options.

The Freshwater Bar & Grill has become the premiere dining experience in Kempsey and we are thrilled to provide an authentic paddock to plate experience.

We have always been – and always will be – a supporter of our people, always looking to provide a unique experience and a place to connect.

Things to do in the Macleay Valley

Kempsey-Macleay RSL Club is centrally located in the beautiful Macleay Valley. With the river right on our doorstep and the beach only 15 minutes away, there are endless ways to spend your time while holidaying in our region.

A beach day at South West Rocks – A town filled with sparkling beaches, beautiful nature and rich history. Do very little and relax by the sea, or explore historic ruins and nature walks – the choice is yours!

Shop till you drop – From lifestyle, homewares and gifts at Mahalo Interiors in West Kempsey – to handmade products from various creatives in the region at The Gladstone Hub – or venture to Crescent Head for stunning clothing and handbags.

A picnic with a view – The Macleay Valley has some sensational walking tracks (Green Island Walking Track and Korogoro Walking Track) as well as breathtaking lookouts, including Smoky Cape Lighthouse and Reservoir Lookout.

Sport & Recreation

The Macleay River offers an abundance of recreation options for the whole family to enjoy.

Whether it’s kayaking, mountain biking, water skiing, taking a refreshing dip – or of course, fishing! On any given day you can catch plenty of favourites, including Mulloway Jew fish, and we are famous for our bass!

There’s also the West Kempsey Pump Track, a ‘rollercoaster’ path which riders of bicycles, skateboards, scooters and roller-skates can complete without needing to pedal or push.

Entertainment

Visit Bucket Brewery – a family-owned and operated independent brewery located right here in Kempsey. They have a wide range of quality beers personally created, brewed and fermented – head in for a taste test!

The Gladstone Quality Markets are held on the third Sunday of every month along the banks of the Macleay River, Kinchela Street, Gladstone.

And who can forget the Slim Dusty Centre! Alongside the museum, which features objects and images from the family’s own archive and contributions from fans and friends all over the world – you’ll also find Visitor Information, a Retail Shop, the Nulla Nulla Art Gallery, Dusty’s Dinner Camp Cafe.

Kempsey-Macleay RSL Club always has a great event on, whether it’s a local live music act – or a low key Sunday Session.
