RSL donates thousands to local community

The Kempsey-Macleay RSL Club generously donates thousands of dollars every year to support a range of community services including community groups, sporting clubs and local organisations.

Among the beneficiaries who received cash, sponsorship or in-kind donations last year included Kempsey Neighbourhood Centre, Kempsey Community Food Pantry, Macleay Valley Netball Association, Kempsey Golf Club, Crescent Head Pointers Swimming Club, Nulla Cricket Club, Macleay Valley Rangers and Rotary and VIEW Clubs.

Kempsey-Macleay RSL Club CEO, Daniel Abela, said the club was delighted to be able to support so many worthwhile clubs and organisations each year.

“We try to do what we can for the community, whether that’s directly donating money, providing sponsorship for an event or purchasing meat from a local butcher to donate to a sporting club for their raffles,” he said.

“Our venues provide a social outlet for residents and visitors and the money that gets spent in our clubs we’ve been able to recycle some of that back into our community,” said RSL CEO, Daniel Abela.

Clubs Grants Program

The RSL is also proud to support local clubs and charities through its participation in the  ClubGRANTS Program. Approximately 500 clubs across NSW voluntarily allocate funds to the ClubGRANTS scheme to support their communities.

What funding is available?

Funding is available under three separate categories:

  • Category 1: Supports community welfare and social services; community development; employment assistance activities; community health services; and projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people.
  • Category 2: Provides funding for general community development and support activities, such as junior sport.
  • Category 3: Is a state-wide fund that supports large-scale community infrastructure projects. Grants are available for sport, emergency and disaster relief, and arts and culture infrastructure.
